Peter E. McKeever is an attorney and conservation professional with 32 years of experience, including 10 years of nonprofit leadership and land and water conservation activity as the State Director of the Wisconsin Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, an international nonprofit conservation organization. From 1977 to 1989, he was a staff attorney and managing attorney at Legal Services of Northeastern Wisconsin, representing low income persons on a wide range of legal issues.

Since 1999, Mr. McKeever has been associated with Garvey, McNeill & Associates, S.C. in an "Of Counsel" capacity, working on a variety of environmental and land use issues, including opposition to the siting and approval of gravel pits, communications towers, highways, rural subdivisions, ethanol plants, big box stores, pipelines, and power lines in areas unsuited for such developments. He also practices extensively in the area of real estate protection for conservation purposes, representing land trusts and landowners who wish to permanently protect their land with conservation easements, the sale of development rights (PDR) and other tools. He has worked broadly as a land and water conservation consultant, assisting landowners, land trusts, nonprofit organizations, municipalities and businesses to address land and water conservation issues.

He also helps clients form non-profit corporations and apply for s. 501 (c)3 determinations from the IRS.

Mr. McKeever has extensive experience in a wide range of natural resource public policy issues, as a lobbyist, and in negotiating real estate transactions for conservation purposes, fundraising and grant-writing for conservation, and the planning and implementation of on-the-ground conservation projects. He has often been engaged in the development of site-specific conservation strategies and the consideration of the legal, political, cultural, and community issues involved.

Mr. McKeever serves on the Monona, Wisconsin, City Council.

Mr. McKeever is admitted to practice in all Wisconsin state courts, and he is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin.
